Inpatient Rehab Nursing in Indianapolis
If you or a loved one has ever required advanced rehabilitation services for something like a brain injury, stroke, or situation that’s physically debilitating, you know how important the team of providers is in a successful recovery.
At Indianapolis Rehabilitation Hospital we provide state-of-the-art specialized services that are tailored to ensure patient success. Whether it’s collaborating care plans between your providers or providing a private, personalized approach to improve your health, we put you and your family first.
Inpatient vs. Outpatient Rehab
As an inpatient rehabilitation center, we’re able to offer the calm, dedicated atmosphere that focuses on our patients’ individual needs. Rather than performing outpatient services that seem rushed and impersonal, an inpatient setting is preferred for people who are recovering from disabling or chronic conditions that are severely impactful on their everyday quality of life.
The truth is that patients who receive specialized rehabilitation from inpatient hospitals are less likely to experience lengthy hospital stays, medical emergencies, and ongoing complications related to their diagnosis.
A Multidisciplinary Approach
Since we’re an inpatient hospital, we have on-staff providers that collaborate in our multidisciplinary care approach. Each team works together to help you (or your loved one) achieve the strength and independence that you’re capable of, taking one step at a time. Some of the providers you’ll find in our staff are Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists. Your curated therapeutic activities will incorporate goals set by each of your care providers to streamline your recovery in an achievable manner.
Here, you’ll find state-of-the-art technology that’s accessible to your entire care team. There aren’t any additional referrals, offsite therapies, or limited resources that impede your therapeutic activities. Each of our providers have everything accessible to them that they need to help you reach your goals.
Being an inpatient rehabilitation hospital allows us to provide around-the-clock care, as opposed to limited resources only during scheduled appointment times. So, if you need assistance adapting to a normal daily routine, we can be by your side. And although we’re technically a hospital, you’ll still have a private space for relaxing, warm, nutritious meals, and time to spend with your family. But on the other hand, you’ll be able to tap into 2-3x the amount of rehabilitation services that you would in an outpatient facility. Each day consists of morning and afternoon therapy sessions with your applicable medical provider, with downtime in-between all of that hard work. Therapy is delivered five days a week, bridging the gap for our patients who might not otherwise be able to logistically make those sessions happen in another type of setup.
A Comprehensive Approach to Your Care
Your physical wellness is just one aspect of our focus of care. We understand that emotional needs and cognitive abilities are just as important as physical rehabilitation. From handling stress to processing the information in front of you, our holistic care approach provides a comprehensive package rather than one solely limited to meeting physical rehabilitation needs. After all, the impact that physical or cognitive impairment can have on your quality of life and emotional health is significant. Handling them as a “package deal” ensures better outcomes for our patients.
Getting Back to the Basics
There’s truly no better way to get help on everyday activities and self-care than choosing an inpatient rehab hospital for your rehabilitation treatment. From eating to bathing, or simply buttoning your favorite shirt, we’re with you each step of the way and will continue adjusting your care plan as it spans across a multidisciplinary care approach.
Rehabilitation is a lot of work for both yourself and your care team. Being mentally ready to tackle the tasks at hand is essential. That being said, there’s plenty of down time to rest your body (and your mind) between therapy sessions during your stay.
Be sure to pack anything that you would need for a trip out of town, such as toiletry items, comfortable changes of clothing, and shoes.
Why Inpatient Rehab is Different
When you or a loved one has chronic or acute medical needs, you know that limited therapies 2-3 times a week can only make so much of an impact. Working with a multidisciplinary care team at Indianapolis rehabilitation hospital allows each provider to work together and consistently monitor progress throughout the day (and week.) As a result, care is better articulated, attentive, and accurate from one day to the next. If you need someone there with you throughout the day — just to accomplish what used to be routine — then an inpatient residential center can go above and beyond what’s possible with conventional outpatient therapies performed with multiple different team members.
